Our Voices, Our Space

We’ve seen a growing need for spaces where Kaurs, especially in the California diaspora, can truly be heard and supported, as their voices and unique challenges have often been overlooked for far too long. Last year’s first Kaurs Conference was a meaningful step toward change, bringing Kaurs together to share stories, build connections, and create sangat. That experience reinforced our responsibility to uplift the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the Panth and to continue creating spaces where Kaurs can speak openly and feel supported. With Guru Sahib’s kirpa, Suhee Initiative is proud to host the second annual Safar-E-Khoj Conference, continuing our mission to strengthen our Sikhi, foster sangat, and ensure that Kaurs’ voices are recognized and valued. We hope that you will join us!

  • We are excited to host the upcoming conference at UC Berkeley!

    Please note that specific details regarding venue information will be finalized and sent to you via email as the conference approaches.

    For those traveling by car, detailed information about parking will be sent via email closer to the event.

  • As our conference will be a full-day event packed with engaging sessions and activities, it's crucial that all attendees arrive on time for check-in. This will allow us to begin the day smoothly and make sure you're fully prepared for the day's events.

    Your punctuality will help ensure that we can stick to the schedule and maximize the value of this exciting, action-packed day!

  • This conference is open to all women who identify as Kaur, aged 16 and above. The event will focus largely on Sikhi and the Sikh Panth; we welcome and encourage all Kaurs to attend, regardless of their level of familiarity with Sikhi.

    The topics covered at this event are designed for a more mature audience. That being said, if a Kaur under the age limit is interested in attending, they are welcome to do so as long as they have reached out to us in advance and are accompanied by a Kaur guardian. Please reach out to us at suheeinitiative@gmail.com if you are interested in this option.

  • This conference will feature inspirational Kaur speakers who will lead workshops, discussions, and panels on topics ranging from panthic advocacy to personal growth and collective healing. Together, we will create a space to learn, reflect, and take action — honoring our identities and strengthening our voices. We will be announcing our speakers via Instagram @suhee.initiative!

  • Early Bird registration will be $29 until April 23rd, after which registration will go up to $39. All registration fees will be applied directly to the costs of hosting this conference, including providing breakfast, lunch, and conference merchandise. However, we never want cost to be the reason someone can’t attend conference, so if cost is an issue, please use the form on the side to let us know. We can work with you to make sure everyone has the opportunity to attend. The entirety of Suhee Initiative’s work is non-profit, and all funds go directly towards seva.

  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided as part of your conference ticket. Upon registration, you’ll be asked to complete a form to indicate any dietary restrictions or preferences.

    As this is a Sikh-based conference, all meals served will follow the guidelines of Rehat and will be both vegetarian and eggless. Bibeki options will also be provided, so if practiced please include it within your registration form!
